Ive been following all of these sweet tumblrs with their super beautiful bookshelves, and sometimes I wish I was a bookshelf person myself. a long time ago I made the decision not to be, and I have seldom regretted it. I’m the kind of person who really only reads a book once if its fiction, and reference books I do keep, but in a cabinet. Now that im a Kindle person its better than ever, I don’t even have to sell my books back to Coas (local bookstore) anymore.
But sometimes I really love what beautiful decor books can be, I mean bookshelves are undeniably pretty in all of these wonderful photos right? so it stands to reason that mine would be so beautiful as well.
… unfortunately, I think Im still in the right on this one. If i did have bookshelves they would pretty much be filled with textbooks and paperback sci-fi, which have the habit of having terrible cover art anyway, plus paperbacks do that thing with the white lines up and down the spine if you actually read them.
PLUS the most important thing is that bookshelves get hella dusty, and I do not use the word hella lightly.
in conclusion; bookshelves are beautiful if you have a collection of beautiful books and an immaculately clean ultra stylish house, but for the rest of us, they just look kinda cluttered… oh well, im going to go read my kindle now.
The oh-so-fancy way that people reply to comments is to copy and paste the response from their dashboard or tumblelog and then paste it into a new text entry. It's one of the features that the people are always saying they want. Though in my experience they're always saying it to their followers and no one really talks to the people who run tumblr. On the other hand, I kind of doubt that the powers that be would actually listen anyway.
I'll start working on a recommendations list, but what kind of stuff do you want to see? I follow 126 people right now, and a lot of them post a lot of different things.
Check out http://mer-et-soleil.tumblr.com and http://dandification.tumblr.com for now. :D
Well right now I follow some atheist and science blogs, but I have enough of those. I like blogs like things organized neatly and bookshelf porn too. pretty pictures especially technology, science and minimalism type stuff. and of course anyone who is particularly funny or interesting.
well looks like i’m at 100 posts, of course tumblr is giving me the usual “fuck you, we are tumblr and we will fix things when we are damned good and ready” error message when I try and post things. but oh well.
Not much to say here, though. i got a new loofa today that I am pretty excited about. and I shaved in the shower today with my new no fog shower mirror. its pretty awesome.
So just got back from my fitness evaluation at the gym I just joined, apparently the only thing i’m “fit” for is reclining gently on a soft surface.
BUT i guess thats why I need the gym in the first place, although I’m not a huge fan of my personal trainer. but the trouble is, pretty much all personal trainers are awful.
she kept asking me where my “excitement” and “drive” were, while I was walking slowly on the treadmill and struggling to do even the simplest weight lifting. I just blinked at her. then she started talking about Chi and energy bullshit, wrong turn Tina, do I look like a middle aged, recently devoiced “Spiritual type” Lady?
the saving grace is that I only need three sessions with her until I can do my workouts independently, with a good audio book instead.
i’m being overly negative about the experience though, despite the Polly-Anna disposition of Tina, I think this is a great Gym. I might stand a chance getting healthy.
also Please note the over use of “quotation” marks in this post, just felt like a quotation kinda day.
I made an appointment today to get my first eye exam in about a million years. my eye sight is fine, but i’m double checking because soon i have to take the eye exam for my new internship. the trouble is, if my vision isn’t perfect for that then no job for me. but if something IS off, even just a little I can get glasses before I have to take the test.
its a bit of an expense but worth the extra peace of mind. I also just finished my paperwork for the background investigation, which will take months.
I feel lighter now. I just finished cleaning out my underwear and sock drawer getting rid of the build up… you know what i’m talking about, the underwear that doesn’t fit right, the sock with one too many holes, the forever mismatched. there was a whole back to the drawer that never got used, and now its gone and the drawer is organized and roomy, with all socks resting happily with their partner.
“You think abortion is wrong? Don’t have one. I think killing people is wrong, so I’m not in the army. My tax dollars still go to fund it, though (in fact about 21 cents of each of my tax dollars). My tax dollars also go to keep prisoners on death row even though I think the death penalty is morally wrong. My tax dollars fund Guantanamo and Bagram, extraordinary rendition, and Jim DeMint’s salary, all of which I find disgusting. So why is abortion, a legal medical procedure, so remarkably different that we have to go overboard making sure tax dollars don’t fund it?”—Sarah Jaffe (via tulletulle, thischickdoesit) (via treeinbrooklyn) (via mariavontrapp-) (via vonnegutandcathair)
